Hotel overview

Located in the evolving La Veleta neighborhood, this 3-star complex offers a peaceful retreat with easy access to natural wonders like the Cristal and Escondido lakes. The condominium-style apartments feature well-equipped kitchens, allowing guests to cook comfortably, while rooftop pools and hot tubs provide relaxing spots to unwind.

Guests appreciate the balance between quiet surroundings and proximity to Tulum’s attractions such as the ancient Mayan ruins overlooking the Caribbean Sea and popular cenotes nearby. The property’s pet-friendly policy and on-site restaurant add layers of convenience for travelers seeking a self-serviced yet helpful stay.

While the area continues to develop, some travelers note that Tulum itself is in transition, with a mix of local charm and overbuilt beach zones. Still, the complex offers a clean, secure base with attentive staff and a well-maintained environment perfect for families, friends, or couples.

“Perfect room, location, cleanliness & complex. Has everything you’d want for a relaxing, safe stay. Super comfortable beds & pillows. Perfect location to use as a home base to frolic outside Tulum or visit the nearby beaches. We so enjoyed the rooftop pools everyday of our stay—Everything is nicely maintained. Although the gym is light on weights & small in size, it was perfect for our daily morning traveling workouts. While we greatly enjoyed our stay at Smart Depas, Tulum leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. Everything is overbuilt, & there are abandoned 1/2 built condos & beach resort buiodings everywhere, Literally!! The beach strip consists of shacks (local’s homes), bohemian clothing store, beach resorts all built side by side with rickity fences, over priced parking, over priced restaurants & smelly seaweed brown sargasm filled beach fronts. I’ve never seen such a mess! There are no sidewalks, & the locals act resentful. We gassed at a downtown Pemex, & the attendant claimed our credit card gas charge of $63 “didn’t go through” & had us try a different card, which “didn’t go through either.” Said the wireless wasn’t working which was a lie to get us to pay in cash. Of course, we later saw on our mobile app that we indeed did get charged. He literally scammed us out of $63! Don’t get fooled like we did. Only gas at the main highway gas stations & make sure you watch everyone insert your card! Tulum’s overbuilt housing, Airbnbs, hotels are crashing, so until it happens, vacationing there will make you walk away feeling ripped off, overcharged, under serviced & under appreciated as a customer. Visit another beach area, not Tulum.”

“I have stayed at many places in La Veleta short term due to the fact that they are right by my work- when I am not renting long term and popping in and out of town I rent elsewhere. This location is very central and its very budget friendly and great for a couple of nights.”

“I went there with family and fiends and stayed at the Penthouse Puente Smartdepas. We loved that they were able to manage all the rooms and space we needed so that all of us could be together. Having transportation from the airport to the destination was really good on a really comfortable sprinter. Something less to worry on our trip. We had the choice of having the catering service and not just the food was delicious, the presentation was delightful and the people were son kind. I really recommend this place.”

“An Amazing Experience at Smart Depot Tulum! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the level of customer service — every single person went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. The space itself is modern, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The amenities are top-notch, and the attention to detail really makes a difference. Smart Depot offers everything you could possibly need, whether you’re there to work, relax, or recharge. It’s one of those places that makes you feel productive and at peace at the same time. Definitely a five-star experience — I’ll be coming back for sure!”

“We recently spent a week here. I was so pleased with the kindness of the staff and the amenities of this clean and comfortable property. The condos are conveniently located close to the main avenue for shopping and an abundance of restaurants but far enough removed for a peaceful nights sleep.”
